Born in Russia, Aleksei Baikov began training in Ballroom and Latin at the age of 5. His talent caught the eyes of some of the world’s best dance coaches, and he trained under masters, such as Ruud Vermei, Colin James, and Miriam Bakke. Aleksei began competing throughout Russia and internationally and in 2010 he became the Professional Latin Champion in the south federation region of Russia. For the last 13 years, Aleksei has been teaching dance, including Latin, Smooth, Rhythm and social/club dancing. Charismatic and friendly, Aleksei puts his students at ease.
Stephen and Debbie Cullip
Stephen Cullip is a Certified Ballroom Instructor and former National Champion. Some of his accomplishments include: Three Times Ohio Star Ball Professional Standard Champion; Twice World Professional Standard Semi-Finalist and he has been 7 Times U.S. Representative to World’s Professional Championships. Stephen has also been a winner of almost every major Professional and Amateur Championship in the U.S. Stephen’s wife, Debbie, a teacher in her own right, joins Stephen as the two direct our Performance Team. The couple is also available for private lessons.
Wesley is a native of Florida where he owned a Ballroom Dance Studio before moving to California in 1977. Wesley is an experienced Ballroom dancer and instructor. He and his wife Jackie host our Tea Dances which provide a charming afternoon of dancing for local dancers. Offering a dance class prior to the Tea Dance, Wesley spends 2 weeks on each dance, rotating to cover Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Salsa, East Coast Swing, and Bossa Nova.
Teaching country line and couples dancing for over 15 years, Kat is loved by her students. She also brings over 7 years of experience teaching ballroom dance. Kat also teaches at Rockin’ Rodeo in Sacramento and is a member of the championship country dance competition team, Wildfire. She is currently Director and Choreographer for the Ropin’ Riders Dance Team, a demonstration and competition team in Sacramento. In the spring of 2010, she received her B.A. in Dance with an emphasis in Choreography. Kat has studied many types of dance, including ballroom dancing, country dancing, folk dancing, ballet, modern dancing, and African-Caribbean dancing. Her studies included anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, how dance movement affects the body and mind, and how dance can be used for exercise and physical therapy.
Steve began his Argentine Tango training in the San Francisco Bay Area over 12 years ago. He is also an accomplished musician. As a result he understands the musical phrasing of compositions and its application to the dance. Steve is also familiar with notable composers and various orchestral styles of Tango and enjoys providing historical context as to the origination and evolution of the music and dance from the late 1800s to present day. Steve studied with numerous Tango “Maestros” from Buenos Aires such as Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo (winners of Fox’s Superstars of Dance and choreographers for So you Think You Can Dance), Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Fabian Salas, Nito and Elba Garcia, Claudio Villagra, Guilermina Quiroga, Hugo Patyn, Carlos Rivarola, and Nora Olivera, all world-renowned teachers and performers.
One of the premier dance teachers in the Sacramento and Bay Area region, Evgeny graduated from St. Petersburg University with a Masters in Ballroom Dancing and Performing Arts. The Russian Federation awarded him the qualification of Instructor and Choreographer in Creative Arts, Master of Dancesport (Ballroom Dancing and Ballet). He has been part of many dance theater productions, and has won a number of Professional Rising Star Championships as well as having placed among the top six, in the American Smooth Professional division, at the Blackpool Competitions in 2017. Now retired from competing, Evengy puts his time into teaching and performing with his students.
One of the top professional dancers in the United States, Victoria and her partner won the Smooth Open Professional Championship at San Francisco’s International Grand Ball, placed fifth at Los Angeles’ World Embassy Ballroom’s Open Championship, and placed sixth as Open Professional Smooth Finalists at the 2014 U. S. National Ballroom Dance Championship. Her students have placed as finalists at the Pro/Am Senior Open Championship level. Victoria is a sought after dance coach, travelling regularly on the international circuit to give private coaching session and conducting workshops for amateur and professional couples.
With over 20 years experience teaching and performing, Cheri loves to share her enthusiasm for dance with others and believes that everyone can enjoy dance at some level. From youths eager to add ballroom dance to their list of talents, to nervous wedding couples preparing for their First Dance, to older adults looking for a hobby they can enjoy, Cheri embraces the opportunity to inspire people in the sport of partner dancing. As director of a Ballroom Dance Dept for over 12 years, she has directed, produced, and performed at many showcases and events. Her competitive experiences took her national events including the Ohio Star Ball and others, where she competed with her students and also with her partner. She also offers lessons in Scottish Dancing, English Country Dancing, Social Dancing, and provides choreography and lessons for wedding couples.
Hunter is currently a professional Latin competitor dancing with his partner, Killian Stephens. He began ballet training while living in Utah and Arizona and then went on to study ballroom focusing on the smooth Latin dances. Hunter has trained with Louis VanAmstel, Ashley Delgrosso, Corky Ballas, Rick Robinson, Gary McDonald, Inna Berlizyeva and Toni Regrave, just to mention a few. We are thrilled to welcome the addition of Hunter to our team of talented professional instructors.
Monika started her dancing career when she was 6 years old in Poland. She trained in Ballet, International Latin, and International Standard Ballroom dancing.She received extensive coaching from Gregory Fidurski of Poland who now teaches in New York City. Monika has more than 20 years of experience in competitive Ballroom and Latin dancing.
